Hi! I'm Cynthia, the author and founder of this dream home design website. I am an ultra-organized, super creative, and budget conscious residential draftsman and designer.

1990 - At the Beginning

I have been passionate about residential design for as long as I can remember! When I was 12 years old, my parents took on a custom home build project; I was so excited, and very involved. I helped my Mom decide on the floor plan layouts, I attended the review meetings with their draftsman, and I was very opinionated on the interior selection details. I also quickly learned that serious issues and challenges can arise in the blink of an eye.

1998 - Drafting Begins

While studying business and business management in college, I became obsessed with residential architecture and design. I developed the ability to create custom designed home plans, and to generate 3-D renderings to envision the designs I built. I spent countless hours drawing and rendering hundreds of homes to learn the integrated details of wall structure, roof line intersection, and proper visual scaling. Now, 25 years later, I am still focused on helping people turn their napkin sketch drawings, and initial concepts and ideas into the perfect vision of their dream home!

2001 - Bachelor of Science

Prior to graduation in 2001, I was selected as the senior from the Rebsamen Portfolio Investment Trust Group to earn a job on Wall Street, and I moved with my husband to NYC to pursue the opportunity. I finished out my degree, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in Financial Management, and now I use the financial expertise I learned to diligently and tediously help homeowners locate and source building materials that not only meet their visual and aesthetic desires, but that also take their project budget and financial plan into consideration.

2007 - Thirty-Acre Farms

My vision began to develop and take shape! Purchasing a rural piece of land, or the property that would grow and develop into our horse farm, was the first step in a long journey to fulfilling the ultimate plans that were laid out. This would be the start of the 'long game', as it would be another 12 years before the forever home, I envisioned, would become a reality. The lesson here is patience! It is possible to achieve your ideal vision, your dreams and your goals. Don't be afraid to take the proper time in the planning stage to look at the big picture, and then to narrow it down all the way to the tiniest detail. It's the details, in the end, that will make it special.

2014 - The FIRST design ...

In 2014, I completed the drawings for the first version of our forever home! However, it was not ultimately ideal for the topography of our building site. The decision was made to reevaluate, and to come up with a design that better suited the style of the horse farm, and that worked in concert with our land's slope. This type of adjustment is a frequent occurrence in developing 'your perfect dream home'! I always teach that it is important in the early stages of design to remain flexible, and to allow multiple factors to influence the overall outcome of the design. It will create the best result!

2016 - The Official Plans

No woulda, coulda, shoulda! That is the number one motto we live by here each and every day at Creek Home Design! I always advise clients to take the time it takes. Narrow in on each and every idea you have, walk through your new dream home in your mind time and time again, and envision how you will use each space! In the end, you will create the perfect outcome. There won't be a single thing you 'wish you had done', or 'wish you could add' because every view, every angle, and every little special place you create will feel like home!

2018 - The Exciting Day Arrives ...

In the heat of July, the truck arrived, and the ground-breaking machines were unloaded. The first steps were taken to start bringing all the ideas, concepts, and visions together. With the ideal floor plan configured, all the spaces planned, all the materials selected and chosen, it was finally time to bring all the preparation into focus, and to watch each phase of construction bring the home one step closer to completion. When this stage begins it is important to be knowledgeable in each stage of the process to ensure that quality is being maintained within the build!

2019 - The Challenges Begin

In the blink of an eye, it can go from the most exciting and exhilarating experience to the most frustrating and exhausting circumstance you've ever encountered. From the custom home build my parents took on in 1990, to my own experience in building our forever home, to numerous tales that I have been told ... unless proper preparation is made, the process can quickly become overwhelming. It takes a trifecta of tools to create a truly solid and successful home building system, and those tools are exactly what we help you learn, and that we provide here at Creek Home Design - design, style, and build!

2019 - A Vision and A New Company is Born

With the challenges I personally faced in building my dream home, and with the passion I developed deeply over 30 years ago, I started ED & D, a full-service drafting and design firm to help homeowners not only design their perfect dream home, but to also help them with their interior and exterior style selections, colors, textures, materials, and more. Now, with countless successful projects behind us, we have developed a system to help families build with knowledge and confidence!
